How to host an HTML page without GitHub

GitHub Pages is the default answer on every forum — and the wrong one if you have never used Git. These five options need no repository and no command line.

Short answer

The quickest way to host HTML without GitHub is an HTML to URL converter: paste or upload and get a link in seconds. For a permanent free site without Git, use Cloudflare Pages or Netlify's direct upload. Neocities suits hand-made personal sites. All five options below work from a browser.

1. HTML to URL converter — instant

How: paste code or drop a file / ZIP at HTMLtoURL.dev, sign in with Google, copy the URL. Good for: drafts, client previews, homework, AI-generated pages, anything you want to share today. Limits: free links last 24 hours; paid plans keep them permanently. Custom domain: no — you get name.htmltourl.dev.

2. Cloudflare Pages — direct upload

How: create a Cloudflare account → Workers & Pages → Create → Pages → Upload assets, drag your folder. Good for: permanent sites with your own domain; generous free bandwidth. Limits: account required; each change is a new upload.

3. Netlify — drag and drop

How: sign in to Netlify and drag the folder onto the deploy area (Netlify Drop). Good for: permanent sites, forms and redirects built in. Limits: anonymous drops must be claimed into an account or they disappear; free tier usage caps apply.

4. Neocities — browser editor

How: create a free site, upload files or edit them in the online editor. Good for: personal, hand-written websites in the spirit of the old web. Limits: some file types restricted on free; site lives at name.neocities.org.

5. Your web host's file manager

How: if you already pay for hosting (cPanel, Hostinger, SiteGround), open the File Manager and upload into public_html. Good for: putting a page on your existing domain. Limits: you need the hosting account; folder rules vary.

When GitHub Pages is still the right answer

If you write code regularly, keep your site in Git, or want free permanent hosting tied to a repository with history, GitHub Pages is excellent and costs nothing. Its trade-offs are the setup and that free sites are public. For everyone else, one of the options above gets you there faster.
