Ask ChatGPT for "one complete HTML file with CSS and JavaScript inline", copy the code block, paste it into an HTML code to URL converter and press publish. You get a live link like https://my-app.htmltourl.dev/ that works on any device, without a ChatGPT account.
Step 1 — Prompt for one self-contained file
ChatGPT often splits code into index.html, style.css and script.js, or writes a React component that needs a build step. Both make publishing harder. Add this to your prompt:
Give me the result as ONE complete HTML file: CSS in a <style> tag,
JavaScript in a <script> tag, no build step, no local image files
(use https image URLs or inline SVG). Include a <title> and the
mobile viewport meta tag.
If it already gave you React/JSX, ask: "Convert this to plain HTML and JavaScript in a single file." Libraries from a CDN (Tailwind's CDN script, Chart.js, Three.js) are fine.
Step 2 — Preview it
Canvas in ChatGPT can preview HTML, but it is easy to miss errors there. Paste the code into the HTML preview editor — the console strip shows JavaScript errors with line numbers you can paste back into ChatGPT ("Fix this error: …").

Step 3 — Publish to a URL
- Open the converter and paste the whole file.
- Choose an address (
birthday-quiz) and, if it is private, a password. - Press Get my URL and share the link.
When ChatGPT gives you an improved version, use Update content in My links — the link stays the same, so people you already sent it to see the new version.
Paste code or drop a file, ZIP or folder. Free plan, custom address, password & editing included. Get a URL
Things that break, and the prompt that fixes them
| Symptom | Cause | Ask ChatGPT |
|---|---|---|
| Blank page | JSX/React code without a build | "Rewrite as plain HTML/JS, no React." |
| Broken images | Paths like images/hero.jpg | "Use https image URLs or inline SVG." |
| Data disappears on refresh | Kept only in variables | "Save state in localStorage." |
| Form does nothing | No backend on static hosting | "Send the form to Formspree" — see forms on static pages |
| API key visible | Key in the JavaScript | Never publish secret keys in front-end code |
Is it OK to publish what ChatGPT wrote?
OpenAI's terms assign the output to you, so you can publish it. You are responsible for what is on the page, though: check facts, remove placeholder text and avoid copying someone else's brand. Pages on HTMLtoURL.dev are noindex, so drafts will not end up in Google.
