Frequently asked questions

Everything about converting HTML to a URL — plans, limits, privacy and what is allowed. Cannot find it? Ask us.

Basics

What is HTMLtoURL.dev?

HTMLtoURL.dev is an HTML to URL converter: an online tool that turns HTML into a live, shareable link. Paste HTML code or upload an .html file, a ZIP or a folder, and you get an HTTPS URL like https://your-page.htmltourl.dev/ that opens in any browser.

What is an HTML to URL converter?

A service that hosts HTML you give it at a public web address. It replaces setting up hosting, a domain and a deploy when all you need is for someone to open a page. HTML to URL, HTML to link and HTML hosting are used interchangeably. (Looking for percent-encoding instead? Use the URL encoder.)

Is it free?

There is a free plan: 3 live links at a time, each online for 24 hours, up to 2 MB, with custom addresses, passwords, ZIP sites, QR codes and updates. Paid plans from $9/month keep links online permanently — see pricing.

Do I need an account?

Yes — you sign in with Google when you publish. It takes one click, there is no password to create, and your links are saved to your account so you can manage them from any device.

Does it work on phones?

Yes — both publishing (upload from your phone's files) and viewing. Published pages are ordinary websites.

Plans & billing

What plans are there?

Free ($0): 3 links, 24 hours each, 2 MB. Starter ($9/month): 3 permanent links, 25 MB, no badge. Pro ($15/month): 10 permanent links, 50 MB. Business ($25/month): 50 permanent links, 75 MB, priority support. Every plan includes custom addresses, passwords, updates, ZIP sites, QR codes and the API.

How do I pay?

Plans are monthly subscriptions sold through Gumroad, which handles cards, PayPal and sales tax. Your plan upgrades automatically once Gumroad confirms the payment — usually within a minute.

Can I cancel?

Any time, from the Gumroad link on your account page. Your plan stays active until the end of the month you paid for; then your links get a 3-day grace period before Free-plan limits apply.

What happens to my links if I downgrade?

Your newest links within the new plan's limit stay up; Free-plan links last 24 hours. Nothing is deleted the moment you cancel.

Do you offer refunds?

If something went wrong, email support@htmltourl.dev within 14 days of a charge and we will sort it out.

Publishing

What can I upload?

Pasted HTML, a single .html or .htm file, a .zip, or a whole folder (multiple files), up to 1000 files. Size: 2 MB on Free (ZIP files too), 25 / 50 / 75 MB on paid plans. Executables and installers are blocked.

Can I choose the address?

Yes, on every plan. Type a custom address of 3–40 lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens to get name.htmltourl.dev. Addresses that imitate banks, wallets, big brands or login pages are not allowed. Leave it empty for a random, hard-to-guess address.

How long does a link last?

On Free, 24 hours — then it is deleted automatically, usually within 15 minutes of expiring. On paid plans, for as long as your subscription is active.

Can I update a page after sharing?

Yes, on every plan. Choose Update content in My links and publish the new version — same URL, same QR code, same password.

Do JavaScript, CSS, fonts and images work?

Yes. Everything is served as a normal website over HTTPS with correct content types, including WebAssembly, SVG, fonts, audio and video.

Can I run PHP, Python or a database?

No. HTMLtoURL.dev serves static files. Call public APIs from JavaScript, or use a backend host for server code.

Is HTMLtoURL.dev related to htmltourl.com?

No. They are separate services. See the comparison.

Is there an API or MCP server?

Yes. Create an API key on your account page, then POST /api/publish with HTML, a ZIP or a JSON map of files to get the URL — or connect the MCP endpoint /api/mcp so Claude, Cursor and other agents can call publish_html. See the API docs.

Privacy & safety

Will my page appear on Google?

No. Every published page is served with an X-Robots-Tag: noindex header, so search engines do not list it.

Can I password protect a page?

Yes, on every plan. The server shows a password screen and does not send your HTML until the right password is entered.

Do you track visitors to my page?

No. We add no analytics or tracking cookies to published pages. A password-protected page sets one cookie so visitors do not have to re-enter the password.

Does HTMLtoURL.dev add anything to my page?

On the Free plan, a small "Made with HTMLtoURL.dev" badge with a Report link in the bottom-right corner, which visitors can close. Paid plans have no badge. No ads on any plan.

What do you do with my Google account?

We receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google to identify your account. We never see your Google password and never post anything on your behalf.

What is not allowed?

Phishing, credential or seed-phrase collection, malware, executables, illegal content, harassment, spam and copyright infringement. See the acceptable use policy.

How do I report a page?

Use the Report link on the page, the report form, or email abuse@htmltourl.dev.

Paste HTML. Get a URL.

Code, an .html file, a ZIP or a whole folder becomes a live HTTPS URL with your own address, an optional password and a QR code. Free to start with Google sign-in; paid plans keep URLs online for good.
